The Anambra State Police Command has received a new batch of over seventy constables freshly deployed from the Police Training College, Oji River, Enugu State, in a renewed effort to boost security operations and reinforce manpower across the state.
Announcing this in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the fresh deployment, which took place on October 8, 2025, aligns with the ongoing nationwide initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, aimed at enhancing community policing and ensuring a stronger police presence at the grassroots.
According to the statement, the newly passed-out officers will be strategically posted to various police divisions, formations, and tactical units across Anambra State to bolster visibility policing, intelligence gathering, and quick response to security situations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu (fwc, minps, PhD), while welcoming the new officers, assured the people of Anambra that their deployment would significantly strengthen the security architecture of the state. He emphasized that the fresh addition to the Command’s workforce would further improve police–community relations and reinforce the ongoing fight against crime and criminality.
CP Orutugu also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across all parts of the state, assuring that the Police remain resolute in ensuring that Ndi Anambra continue to live, work, and carry out their lawful businesses in peace and safety.
The Command, through its spokesperson, also expressed gratitude to the residents of the state for their continuous cooperation and support, while urging them to sustain their partnership with the Police by promptly reporting suspicious movements and persons to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contact lines.
