Natives and residents of Onitsha North and South local government areas are currently celebrating the revival of the Onitsha Water Board twenty five years after.
Recall that before now Onitsha had been facing challenges of good drinking water following the collapse of the Water Board 25 years ago and after investigations by the Anambra state government, Governor Charles Soludo revived the Water Board and schemes , reticulating water into homes .
According to the Acting Diokpa of Aguziani family in Umuaroli Onitsha Comerade Sunday Aguziani, who led his people to Awka to appreciate the recovery of over 75.55 hecters of land by Soludo ;
“We want to appreciate Mr Governor Charles Soludo for what he has done for us and remember that in the last twenty five years Onitsha North and South local government area had no pipe borne water but today Soludo administration has revived the water project in we now enjoy water supply courtesy of the Soludo administration”
“It is this family that gave Anambra state the Onitsha Water Board and if you go to Onitsha today we have water unlike in the past 25 years ”
“We have water everywhere even in your house and in every home and we are going to vote for Soludo in this coming election ” he noted.
He further expressed the appropriation of the family over the recover of their ancient family lad which had been affected by litigations for over 19 years.
“We are here to show appreciation to the government of Anambra state over the land ”
“There was a Court matter over 19 years ago on the land issue and after that there was a judgement and we applied to government to go and show us the coordinates of the land ”
“The land is about 75.55 hecters and it was certified by Idigo the Surveyor General of the ministry of lands ”
“In the land you will see where we have the government two third of the land while one third of the land was given to us the family”
“We went to see the land but we saw masked men that were armed and they chased us away but we reported to government and government helped us to take effective occupation of the land ” he concluded.
