A lucky young man has testified of how he would have been a dead person on his 2025 birthday if not for God’s divine intervention that saved him from his captors.
The birthday man shared the testimony while recounting his harrowing experience in the hands of suspected Fulani herdsmen who kidnapped them along the Agwa–Ogbokofia Link Road, reportedly located between Rivers and Imo States on their way returning from Owerri.
In a self-recorded video of himself moments after escaping from the bush where he and others were held by the armed abductors, the man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, said everything happened like a miracle.
According to his narration, he and several others were kidnapped while returning from Owerri, Imo State, by the armed herdsmen who also forced them into a very thick forest at gunpoint. He explained that they were lined up by the abductors before he suddenly felt an inner urge to run, upon which he dashed into the bush. Two other captives reportedly followed him, and together they ran through the dense forest in a desperate attempt to regain their freedom.
Visibly exhausted and disoriented in the video, the man showed injuries and dirt covering his body as he narrated how he managed to find his way back to the main road after losing his fellow escapees in the forest. He described the location as a lonely stretch between Agwa and Ogbokofia, adding that he could have died on his birthday had God not intervened.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, has also attracted reactions from netizens, many of whom expressed gratitude for his escape while decrying the growing cases of kidnapping and insecurity along interstate routes across the South-East and South-South regions.
