The newly commissioned Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Center roof has collapsed in Imo State after heavy rain fall on Monday evening.
Some residents who reacted to the development said, “project that was just celebrated with so much fanfare couldn’t even withstand one downpour raising serious questions about contract quality, transparency, and safety standards in the State.”
In a related development, one of the residents said; On Saturday 25th October, i spotted some “patch patch” repairs on the G-String Flyover, should we be worried it might be the next to collapse?. How long shall we keep commissioning projects that crumble at the first test?
Imo people deserve better. Accountability is not optional.”
It could be recalled that President Bola Tinubu visited Imo State on 30th September, 2025 when he commissioned the International Conference Center named after Late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
Also, The Nigerian leader unveiled Mr Uzodimma’s book, “A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria.” which was Mr Tinubu’s second official visit to the south-eastern state as president after his last in January 2024.
The building is situated in front of popular Warehouse in Owerri municipal Council Area.
