The people of Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area have declared their total support for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, describing his second term bid as “non-negotiable,” in recognition of his developmental strides across Anambra State.

The community made the declaration during the official handover of a completed solar-powered water supply project at the Cave City Secondary School, Ogbunike, executed by the Governor Soludo-led Administration through the State Ministry of Power and Water Resources.

Speaking at the event, the President-General of Ogbunike, Chief Samuel Tochukwu Obiakor, praised Governor Soludo for resuscitating the long-abandoned water project, which he said had been neglected by successive administrations in the state. He explained that this gesture and other practical developmental efforts of the Governor have endeared him to them, hence their resolve to support and re-elect his administration in the state.

Thanking the government for its intervention in restoring the water, the PG further appreciated the Ministry, the project contractor (El-Bukelz Nigeria Limited), the School Principal, and the Ogbunike Town Union for their combined efforts in ensuring the project’s successful completion; while also pledging that the community will ensure it effective use and adequate protection of the facility from vandals.

On her own part, the Principal of the Cave City Secondary School, Mrs. Okeke Afoma Angela, thanked the state government for making clean water available to the students. She attested that the facility would not only provide safe drinking water but also improve hygiene and other academic activities in the school. She joined voice to laud the state government, the contractor and the supervising officials from the Ministry, led by Mr. Ebogha Peter, for what she described as quality and impactful water project in the state.

Earlier speaking, the State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, reaffirmed the Solution Government’s commitment to expanding water infrastructure to every nook and cranny of the state.

Highlighting similar water projects and interventions of the Solution Government in different parts of the State, the Commissioner, who was represented by the Ministry’s Team Leader for Water Projects in Anambra North Senatorial District, Mr. Onyedibe Okechukwu, urged the leadership of Ogbunike community to establish a Maintenance Committee that will oversee the sustainability of the water facility, emphasizing the need for community ownership.

Information from the Ministry reveals that the latest solar-powered water project is one of such several initiatives being rolled out by the Soludo Administration to improve access to potable water and enhance the quality of life, both in rural and urban communities across the state.

These, it was gathered, have also been instrumental to the massive endorsement the Governor has been getting from different groups, communities and residents of the state, who cite his achievements in the water sector, other sectors and general infrastructure as ones that have left no doubt about his deserving of a second term.
