OPEN LETTER TO HON. BABAYO GABARIN, COMMISSIONER, MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORT DEVELOPMENT, BAUCHI STATE
Subject: Rejection of Mr. Umar Lauya’s Aspiration for National Chairman, Nigeria Youth Council of Nigeria
Sir,
We write to you as concerned loyalists and committed stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)–led administration under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed. Our purpose is to express our deep dismay and firm opposition to the recent endorsement and political embrace of Mr. Umar Lauya, who is currently aspiring to become the National Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
It is both ironic and troubling that Mr. Lauya, who has in the past publicly ridiculed and insulted our Governor using derogatory and inflammatory language such as “Dan Wiwi” and “Barawo” now seeks the support and validation of the very administration he once vilified. Such hypocrisy not only undermines the integrity of our political institutions but also insults the collective memory and loyalty of those who have stood by Governor Bala Mohammed through thick and thin.
We, the undersigned, cannot in good conscience support or remain silent while a figure who has shown blatant disrespect to our leader is positioned as a representative of Nigerian youth. Mr. Lauya’s conduct disqualifies him morally and ethically from being considered a worthy ambassador of the youth, let alone a national leader.
Our youth deserve role models who embody loyalty, discipline, and a genuine commitment to public service. In this regard, we proudly reaffirm our support for Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim, a dedicated and principled youth leader who has consistently contributed to the success of the PDP-led administration in both the 2019 and 2023 electoral cycles. His track record of service, loyalty, and grassroots engagement makes him a far more deserving candidate for endorsement.
We therefore call on all stakeholders within the PDP family, especially those under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, to boycott the candidacy of Mr. Umar Lauya and instead rally behind credible and morally upright youth leaders who truly reflect the values of our party and administration.
Attached herewith are some few screenshots of Mr. Lauya’s previous posts, which clearly demonstrate his disdain for our Governor and the PDP-led government. These are not mere political criticisms they are personal attacks that cannot be overlooked.
Let us not reward betrayal with endorsement. Let us stand firm in defense of loyalty, integrity, and the values that define our movement.
