It was a moment of joy laced with emotions for nine homeless widows from nine villages of Ekwulobia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state as Afamation Movement led by Hon Afamefuna Ezenwafor handed over keys of nine bungalows he built and furnished for them as part of his Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
Receiving the bungalow keys from the benefactor, the beneficiaries,vMrs Tochukwu Iloh/Agba Village, Mrs Ezeokonkwo Chikaodili/Nkono Village, Mrs Lovina Ezeokeke/Ula Village, Mrs Fracisca Eberechukwu Ezeokeke/Okpo Village, Mrs Regina Ezeokeke/Ihuokpala Village, Mrs Leticia Ezenwosu/Umuchi Village, Mrs. Onwumelu Ijeoma/Abogwume village, Fidelia Chukwuemeka Okeke/Eziagulu village and Mrs Chika Chukwuneke Nwosu/Umuchiana Village, tears rolled down their cheeks as they danced with hearts full of appreciations.
Speaking while handing over the keys, the donour, Hon. Ezenwafor who is the National Leader of Afamation Movement, expressed gratitude to God for providing the funds, the intellects and the passion to shelter the homeless.
Ezenwafor who was an ADC Governorship aspirant and later Governor Candidate of NRM,
pointed out that humans are the living God which we see each day, adding that the only way to appreciate Him is through practical Christianity.
According to Hon Ezenwafor, “I never knew any of the beneficiaries, but I was moved by showing the spirit of love which God showed to humanity through Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for the sake of mankind”.
He added: “the target is to build 50 houses for the less privileged and widows within 10 years which already 10 have been successfully built and handed over to nine widows from nine different villages in Ekwulobia today”.
Appreciating his younger brother, Nze Osita Ezenwafor (Ositadimma Care Foundation) for his sponsorship to ensure that these widows are sheltered, he prayed for God’s continued blessing.
He therefore called on other philanthropists in Anambra state and beyond to emulate this kind of exemplary gestures, adding that the movement was not politically motivated but to give back to the society and God who have been the author and finisher of our faith.
In his remark, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Anambra state, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne noted that Afamation’s act of charity is embedded with the Private Public Partnerships arrangements which Governor Chukwuma Soludo is advocating for.
Nwabunwanne however appreciated Ezenwafor for finding it worthy to build these edifice for the widows while calling on other well meaning individuals to take a cue and move to the right direction rather than living in rancor with one another.
Also speaking, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC in the just concluded Anambra South Bye-Election, Chief Dr Donald Amamgbo (Okosisi Ihiala), thanked Hon Ezenwafor for such a charity gesture which he maintained was commendable and worthy of emulation. He noted that this is the only movement that have stood out from being politically motivated but looks at improving the livelihood of the downtrodden in the society.
Dr Chidi Amamgbo who is a member of Afamation Movement was so excited with the Afamation charity work that he doled out ₦1,000,000 (₦500,000) to each of the two lucky widows among the nine beneficiaries.
Appreciating the foundations, some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Tochukwu Iloh, Mrs Chika Chukwuneke Nwosu, Mrs Fidelia Chukwuemeka Okeke, Mrs Leticia Ezenwosu and Mrs Regina Ezeokeke who spoke on behalf of others, showered abundant prayers, blessings and thanksgiving with kola presentations, drinks and foods in abundance to the guests.
Dignitaries at the occasion were Anambra state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Mrs Ify Obinabo, former member Anambra state House of Assembly that represented Aguata 2 constituency, Hon Ikem Uzoezie (Ikeoha Aguata), Aguata Deputy Local Government Mayor, Hon Kingsley Ezeagu, President-General of Ekwulobia Town Union, Nze Abubuike Ezechukwu (Uzommiri Ebetehete), his first vice, Elder Frank Timothy, Religious leaders, Community leaders and others too numerous to mention.
