The Anambra State Police Command has recorded yet another breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crimes, with the arrest of a suspected armed robber who has been on the Command’s wanted list.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Kingsley Eze, was apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, following a carefully coordinated operation based on credible intelligence. He was arrested in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the State.

Confirming the development in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the arrest marks another milestone in the Command’s sustained crackdown on violent criminals across the state.

According to him, a Magnum Pump Action gun, together with twelve (12) live cartridges, was recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest. He noted that the recovery not only prevented the suspect from unleashing further terror on innocent residents but also added to the Command’s continuous effort to mop up illegal firearms from circulation.

“The suspect has been on the Police wanted list for alleged involvement in armed robbery. He is currently in custody, undergoing interrogation, and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” SP Ikenga stated.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, to sustaining the tempo of intelligence-led operations and proactive policing aimed at dismantling criminal networks, restoring peace, and safeguarding lives and property in Anambra State.
