Sudan thrash Nigeria 4-0 in Chan

Sudan thrashed Nigeria 4-0 in their African Nations Championship (CHAN) clash on Tuesday, dominating from start to finish.

 

The Group D encounter took place at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro, Tanzania, kicking off at 6:00 p.m. Nigerian time.

 

Sudan’s momentum was evident early, with Leonard Ngenge’s own goal in the 25th minute handing them a 1-0 lead.

 

Walieldin Khidir doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 44th minute, giving Sudan a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time.

 

Abdelrazig Omer Yagoub extended the lead in the 68th minute, before scoring again just three minutes later to seal the emphatic win.

Nigeria struggled to break through Sudan’s defence, with the scoreline remaining unchanged despite their second-half efforts.

 

Sudan’s attacking prowess and sharp finishing repeatedly troubled the Nigerian backline, creating several scoring chances.

 

The Sudanese side’s teamwork and strategy were evident, as they outplayed Nigeria in all areas of the game.

 

This comprehensive win sends Sudan to the top of Group D and boosts their chances of reaching the next round.

Nigeria, who lost their opening match 1-0 to Senegal, now face a must-win fixture to revive their qualification hopes.

Sudan are now top of the standings on four points, ahead of Senegal, who also has four points, but have scored fewer goals.

Congo is third on two points.

Nigeria will play their final group game against Congo on Aug. 19 in Tanzania.

Sudan’s next match will be another key test of their form in the competition.
