The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convened its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today in Abuja, drawing together key stakeholders from across the country in a show of unity and renewed purpose ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The high-level meeting was presided over by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, alongside the National Secretary, Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu. Both leaders reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal cohesion, strategic planning, and electoral success, emphasizing the importance of synergy between the National Working Committee (NWC) and the broader party structure.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Damagum praised the resilience of the PDP and its members, noting that the party remains “vibrant, attractive, and ready to offer Nigerians a credible alternative.” He highlighted the upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 2025 as a pivotal moment to usher in a new NWC that will steer the party into the next electoral cycle.
Senator Anyanwu echoed these sentiments, stressing that the PDP’s strength lies in its ability to adapt, unify, and mobilize across all regions. “We are building a party that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians one that is inclusive, forward-thinking, and committed to national progress,” he said.
The PDP Governors’ Forum was also commended for its role in stabilizing the party and fostering unity. Their deliberate efforts to engage stakeholders and promote consensus-driven decision-making were described as instrumental in maintaining the party’s relevance and cohesion.
Adm. Emmanuel Mba (Acia), a senior party figure, lauded the NEC’s deliberations, stating that “the umbrella is big enough to accommodate all those who truly long for a progressive Nigeria.” He called on all party faithful to rally behind the current leadership and contribute to building a formidable platform for 2027.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity, discipline, and strategic engagement, as the PDP positions itself to reclaim national leadership and deliver on its promise of inclusive governance and sustainable development.
