A major administrative shake up has hit the operatives of Agunechemba Security Squad in an apparent bid to instill discipline and good conduct among them .
This may not be unconnected to the demand from some quarters for the dissolution of the outfit which has currently been generating controversy across the state .
It was gathered that the operatives of the security outfit had met over the weekend presided over by the Special Adviser to Soludo on Community Security Prince Kenneth Emeakayi.
In the close door meeting the leadership of Agunechemba and the Anti Touting Squard resolved that all operatives must be subjected to narcotic test as well as investigation into those that are members of secret cults .
Those it is not clear what becomes the fate of any operatives that is found wanting, a source confirmed that they may be demobilized and sacked in order to redeem the image of the outfits.
This directive, it was gathered is a consequence of discussions held during a Town Hall event at the Old Government House in Awka, involving all local security operatives where they addressed issues regarding their operational methodologies, particularly in the context of the upcoming gubernatorial election.
While emphasizing on the objective of upholding integrity and restoring public confidence within both agencies, it was also gathered that the Governor’s Special Assistant on Community Security, Chief Ken Emeakayi, has mandated the prompt and thorough implementation of this policy.
With the development, unit commanders throughout the organizations are charged to be directly accountable for implementing the new directive.
Furthermore, operatives are expected to prioritize upholding human dignity, with strict warning that any violation of the organization’s code of conduct will result in appropriate disciplinary action.
