The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Engr. Baba Ahmed, has described the just-concluded Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election as the most credible in recent times.
Ahmed made the remark on Sunday in Chikun shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Joseph Bagudu, winner of the supplementary election.
He applauded INEC, security agencies, and other stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful and transparent process, noting that the credibility of the exercise was largely attributed to the atmosphere of stability under Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
“The Chikun/Kajuru bye-election has proven to be the most credible election we have witnessed so far. The turnout was impressive, and the process was orderly and transparent. This is a clear testimony to the sterling leadership of Governor Uba Sani, whose peace and development model has enhanced citizens’ confidence in democracy,” Ahmed said.
The KADRA boss added that the poll outcome truly reflected the will of the people and would go a long way in strengthening democratic institutions in Kaduna State.
He urged political parties and candidates to accept the results in good faith, stressing that credible elections remain the foundation of good governance and sustainable development.
The supplementary bye-election was conducted by INEC to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, following the death of its member on July 16, 2024.
