The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu (Ọnọdugo) has been declared the winner and returned as the Senator-elect of Anambra South in the August 16 senatorial by-election.

APGA’s Nwachukwu was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Office at the Collation Center, Nnewi, while the all All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate came a distant second, despite all the bullies and clashes involving one of its key supporters and moneybags in part of Nnewi South on the election day.

Declaring the final results in the presence of party stalwarts over the weekend, the Returning Office, announced that APGA polled a total of 90,408 votes, flooring the first runner-up, the APC, which followed a distant behind with a meager of 19,812 votes, followed by others.

This reporter, Izunna Okafor, authoritatively gathered that APGA swept the votes across all the seven local government areas of Anambra South, as shown below:

Meanwhile, in a related development, official result of the Onitsha North Constituency 1 House of Assembly by-election shows that APGA’s Ifeoma Mimi Azikiwe also floored the APC, ADC and other candidates with great margins, as shown below:

Recall that APGA similarly floored APC and others in the November 2021 governorship election in the state, further retaining entrenching the status of the state as APGA Land.
