In a bid to strengthen healthcare delivery across Bauchi State, Hon. Mahmood Babamaji, Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Bauchi Local Government Area, joined Dr. Sambo Alkali, Chairman of the Bauchi State Hospital Management Board, on a comprehensive inspection tour of two major hospitals in Bauchi metropolis Women and Child Hospital Railway and Bayara General Hospital.
The inspection, conducted as part of a routine assessment, focused on evaluating the hospitals’ operational capacity, infrastructure, and overall management. The visit also served to identify areas requiring urgent intervention and support from the state government.
Hon. Babamaji praised Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his unwavering commitment to the health sector since assuming office in 2019. He noted that the governor’s declaration of a health emergency has led to substantial improvements in hospital services and infrastructure across the state.
“The progress we’ve seen in these hospitals is a testament to the governor’s dedication to public health,” Babamaji stated. “We will continue to collaborate with the Hospital Management Board to ensure that our healthcare system meets the needs of every citizen.”
Dr. Alkali echoed the commendation, highlighting the governor’s consistent support and the significant strides made in healthcare delivery. He emphasized the importance of sustaining these efforts and expanding them to underserved areas.
During the inspection, it was observed that the hospitals are equipped with solar power systems, a dedicated team of medical professionals, and essential medical supplies. However, Dr. Bako Abubakar Muhammad, Head of Bayara Hospital, appealed for additional government support to further enhance service delivery and address emerging challenges.
“The foundation is strong, but we need more resources to meet growing demands,” Dr. Bako said.
The Bauchi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare services, with plans underway to build on existing achievements and tackle new challenges in the sector.
This inspection underscores the administration’s proactive approach to healthcare reform and its resolve to ensure accessible, quality medical services for all residents of Bauchi State.
