The family of young Anambra entrepreneur and fish dealer, Late Master Ifesinachi Martin Onyekesi (popularly known as Fish Magnet) has announced the burial arrangements for the only son, who was gruesomely assassinated by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the state.
According to a burial poster released by the family and currently trending on social media, the deceased, whose brutal killing shocked Ndi Anambra and beyond, will be laid to rest next week in his hometown, Ikenga, Aguata Local Government of the State after a vigil mass the preceding day.
The family, in the poster, described the Onyekesi as “A bright star taken too early,” capturing the deep sense of pain, loss, and heartbreak they have been enduring since the incident.
The funeral programme, according to the poster, will begin on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with a Vigil Mass at the Onyekesi family compound in Eziakpu village, Ikenga, Aguata, by 4:00 p.m.
The following day, Thursday, August 28, a Burial Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Ikenga, at 10:00 a.m., after which his remains will be interred in his compound. The ceremonies will conclude on Sunday, August 31, with a Thanksgiving Mass at the same church by 9:00 a.m.
Recall that the prominent fish dealer and Managing Director of Fish Magnet Outlet, was abducted at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area of the State on Sunday, July 27. He was reportedly trailed by the assailants who, during the violent invasion, shot him on the leg and forcefully whisked him away to an unknown destination, a journey he never returned alive, as his corpse was later found dumped.
The unfortunate incident and gruesome murder of Fish Magnet, who was an only son and heir of his family, attracted condemnation from good-spirited individuals and netizens, including social media influencer, Vincent Martin Otse (popularly known as VeryDarkMan) who publicly mourned his demise and also organized a candlelight procession in Awka, Anambra State capital on Tuesday, August 5, in memory of the assassinated young hustler.
