Gubernatorial Running Mate to Sir Paul Chukwuma under the platform of Young Democratic Party YPP ,in the November 8th Anambra governorship election Mr Uzu Okagbue has lamented that Anambra state is bleeding on the account of the deadly menace of gunmen in the area.
Okagbue who spoke shortly after paying a visit to one out of the five persons attacked by gunmen at his Country home Umunnachi in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state noted that the incident further raises moral questions about the state of insecurity in Anambra state.
At the early hours of Sunday, gunmen stormed the town shooting sporadically attacking unsuspecting members of the public in five persons were injured and one of them is lying critical at a medical facility in the area.
According to Okagbue while at the hospital in recalled that;
“After a spiritually uplifting Sunday worship, my heart still basking in the serenity of divine presence, I was immediately pulled back into the cold, brutal reality of our State”.
“I went straight to the hospital to see our dear brother, Ifeanyichukwu Muokwue, who had undergone major surgery in the early hours of the morning; the result of a harrowing attack by kidnappers who laid siege to our beloved Umunnachi just last night.
“What I saw broke me”
“His body, torn by bullets, lay in agony, but even that physical pain seemed to pale beside the deeper wound: a sense of abandonment, of helplessness in a land that once brimmed with promise”
” Around him were others, victims too, each one a chilling testament to the horror that now stalks our streets”
“Gunshot wounds, shattered limbs, and broken spirits littered the ward like silent screams echoing unanswered in the night”
“I found myself asking, as any sane soul would: What exactly is the crime of Ndi Anambra? What offense have we committed to deserve this reign of blood and terror? How did we, a people known for our resilience, become prey in our own homeland?”
“It is heartbreaking , to admit that this is the daily reality under the current administration: armed criminals dictating the terms of existence, while the government either watches in confusion or hides behind excuses”
“This is not governance”
Okagbue insisted that Anambra cannot continue to bleed noting that it is time for the electorates to act and very drastic too.
“Anambra is bleeding, not just from bullets but from betrayal. And we cannot afford to be silent”
“The time for redemption is now. Not tomorrow. Not after another condolence visit. Now, before we lose all that we are and all that we hope to be” he said.
