A youth advocacy group Bauchi State Youth Democratic Assembly has raised serious concerns over the integrity of Hon. Kabiru Yusuf Alhaji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) representative for Alkaleri/Kirfi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The group alleges that Hon. Kabiru falsely claimed credit for securing a Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) appointment for a constituent, a claim they say has now been debunked following an interview with the actual benefactor who secured the appointment.
According to the group, this incident is one of “many lies” attributed to the lawmaker, whom they accuse of exploiting the trust of constituents to score “cheap political goals.” They argue that Hon. Kabiru has repeatedly taken credit for achievements that were not his own, thereby misleading the public and undermining genuine efforts by others.
In a strongly worded statement, the group condemned the alleged misrepresentation and called on voters to rally behind Hon. Abdulkadir Umar Dewu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Hon. Dewu, currently serving as Chairman of Kirfi Local Government Area and a former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, is praised by the group for his credibility and track record of public service.
They claim Hon. Dewu has facilitated over 100 appointments into various positions during his tenure without making false claims or taking the credit of others a feat they say reflects his commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots development.
The group also expressed their belief that Hon. Dewu was the rightful winner of the 2023 election and vowed to “reclaim the mandate” in 2027 they say was unjustly taken from him. They promised to mobilize voters and sensitize the electorates for the success of PDP in 2027.
The allegations come amid growing scrutiny of political accountability and transparency in the region. While Hon. Kabiru Yusuf Alhaji has yet to publicly respond to the accusations, the matter is expected to stir further debate as the 2027 election cycle approaches.
