Wikki Tourists Football Club have officially sealed their return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a commanding 4–0 victory over Yobe Desert Stars in the final group fixture of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
The standout performer of the match was none other than Wonderson Yakubu, the club’s dynamic forward, who delivered a sensational first-half hat-trick that left fans and pundits in awe. His clinical finishing and relentless attacking play gave Wikki Tourists a decisive edge, effectively dismantling Yobe Desert’s defense before halftime.
Under the guidance of veteran coach Abdu Maikaba, the Bauchi-based side topped Conference A with five points, securing one of the coveted promotion slots to the NPFL for the 2025/2026 season. The fourth goal came courtesy of teammate Hassan, who added gloss to an already dominant performance.
The match, however, was not without drama. Tensions flared among Yobe Desert supporters, whose frustration boiled over into unruly behavior, prompting intervention from security personnel and league officials. Despite the chaos, Wikki Tourists maintained composure and focus, showcasing the discipline and determination that defined their playoff campaign.
Yakubu’s hat-trick not only earned him widespread acclaim but also symbolized the club’s resurgence after seasons of underwhelming performances. His rise has sparked excitement among fans, many of whom are already looking forward to seeing more of the “wonder boy” in the NPFL next season.
