Stay out of Politics or resign Bauchi Governor tells Commissioners

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has warned the state executive council members against undertaking unnecessary trips to Abuja or outside the country.

Bala made the warning at the opening session of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Bauchi Government House on Thursday.

While citing financial challenges and the high cost of governance, the governor said, “The need for prudent management of the state’s limited resources, given the current financial difficulties facing the state.”

He equally warned the council members against partaking in politicking, noting that it is not yet time for politics.

, “It is not yet time for politicking; let us pay more attention to service delivery. We have a lot of ground to cover, and time is against us — our tenure is gradually coming to an end, this is the time for governance, and whoever is eager to start politicking should resign from his or her office”.
He called for a renewed focus on positively impacting the lives of the people through good governance and effective service delivery.

Governor Bala directed the Commissioners to bring forward proposals for project execution, reminding them: “I had earlier told you to approach me for procurement purposes if you have any project in your ministry. I am still waiting.”

The Governor said: “In the next couple of weeks, I will initiate the process of virement so that we can move funds to areas that need funding. We can’t wait while there are sectors requiring urgent attention.”

He called on government officials to prioritise their responsibilities and focus on addressing the state’s challenges instead of engaging in unnecessary activities.

Governor expressed frustration over the state’s inability to secure financial interventions and grants from the federal government, stating, “The federal government has of bias against states governed by opposition parties. Some states were receiving preferential treatment.”

He urged the federal government to remain neutral in the distribution of interventions, stressing that states should not be punished or rewarded based on their political affiliations.

Governor assured that the administration would continue to work for the good of the people of the state until the final moments of its tenure, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Governor also commended members of the press who have consistently reported on the activities of his administration since 2019, describing them as “partners in progress.”

Similarly Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has sworn in twelve newly appointed officials into strategic positions within the state’s civil service and the Executive Council.

Speaking after administering the oath of office and allegiance, Governor Mohammed charged the appointees to work closely with commissioners and other senior government officials to enhance service delivery and drive meaningful development across the state.

He said the importance of dedication, transparency, and professionalism in their respective duties.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the newly appointed Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Muhammad, commended Governor Mohammed for the opportunity and pledged their collective commitment to the responsibilities entrusted to them.

The new officials are to assume office with immediate effect.

They are:. Ibrahim Alhaji Muhammad – Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Jummai Salamatu Abubakar – Permanent Commissioner, State Independent Electoral Commission,. Alhaji Abdu – Permanent Commissioner, State Assembly Service Commission,. Muhammad Atiku Isa – Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment and Muhammad Nasir Usman – Permanent Secretary
Others include Abubakar Garba Adamu – Permanent Secretary, Yakubu Ahmad – Permanent Secretary, Yusuf Adamu – Permanent Secretary, Dauda Yakubu Mahmud – Permanent Secretary, Adamu Aliyu Abdullahi – Permanent Secretary, Ahmed Ahmed – Permanent Secretary and Yankari Ishyaku – State Auditor-General.
