The statement by Labor Party Presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi at the flag off campaign of his gubernatorial candidate Chief George Moghalu about Sabmiller Brewery has one again drawn the anger of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA who are contending that the brewery is his private business with very little percentage equity shares own by the state government.
Obi at the campaign rally has boasted that Sabmiller Brewery is the highest tax payer in Anambra and generates more revenue that the Solution Fun City constructed by Gov Charles Soludo.
According to the Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe the shares of the former governor is hundred percent higher than the shares of Anambra state in the company hence concluding that the Brewery is owned by Peter Obi and not Anambra state.
Qaoting the reports of the Anambra Internal Revenue Services AIRS Obigwe said ;
“Thanks to AIRS for debunking that lies and setting the record straight”
“What Peter Obi will not tell the general public is that his own personal shares in Sabmiller is 100 times bigger than the shares he allocated to Anambra State government at Sabmiller brewery”
“As a matter of fact Sabmiller is more of Peter Obi private business that he dubiously used Anambra money to establish”
“I remember raising this issue long time ago that what Peter Obi quoted in his handover note to Fmr Governor Obiano as Anambra State government investment in Sabmiller brewery was not actually what he withdrew from the State coffers for that purpose”
“They withdrew more than that and used it to buy his own personal shares that is today 100 times bigger than Anambra State government shares in Sabmiller brewery”
“So Sabmiller is not just Peter Obi private business that he dubiously established with Anambra money, the company can as well be described as Peter Obi kinsmen business.”he said.
