Shock and confusion have gripped the Akungba-Akoko community following the sudden death of Femi Oladele, popularly known as ‘Tallex’, the prime suspect in the chilling murder of two undergraduates of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

Oladele, landlord to the deceased students Andrew Eloho Okah (25) of the Department of History and International Studies, and John Friday Abba (19) of the Department of Economics was arrested after police discovered one victim’s decomposing body in a shallow grave near the border of Ondo and Ekiti States.

Authorities say the two young men were kidnapped, assaulted, and murdered in a crime that rattled both campus and community. Following his arrest at a hotel, Oladele reportedly confessed to committing the murders, citing personal grievances against Okah.

After confessing, Oladele allegedly fell ill and was taken to the hospital, where police say he died on Friday. However, conflicting accounts have emerged some sources claim he died in custody days earlier, while others suggest he passed away in the hospital.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the suspect had “been in and out of the hospital under close medical supervision,” adding that he received “adequate care” before succumbing to the illness.

While Okah’s remains have been recovered, efforts to locate Abba’s body are still underway. The police command has called on the public to avoid “distorted narratives” and assured that all involved will face justice.
