Following the influx of Fulani herdsmen into the fourteen Communities in Obowo local government area of Imo state the newly formed security outfit known as Obowo Security Vanguard has declared total war against the herders in a bid towards avoiding deaths and blood shades in the area.
About two weeks ago the Communities were greeted by a large number of the Fulani herdsmen into the bushes and farmlands in Obowo as their cows fed on crops planted in the farms .
Apprehensive of possible attacks on the natives the Obowo Security Vanguard swept on them and chased them out the area up to the neighboring Mbaise Council Areas.
To this end the outfit have commenced combing of the bushes in the area to ensure that the herders are no longer found in Obowo.
According to the Commander of Obowo Security Vanguard Mr Nwunne Godwin the outfit is more emboldened to take charge of the security and lives as well as the property of their sons and daughters.
“We want to use this opportunity to talk to the sons and daughters of Obowo local government area here in Imo state”
“This is especially the well to do citizens of Obowo so that they will see and hear what is going on in our land , my name is Obioma Nwunne Godwin the Commander of Obowo Security Vanguard and these are members of the security outfit and if you look at their faces you can see that they are not happy at all about the menace of the Fulani herdsmen in our local government area”
“These men are volunteers draw fro from all the Communities in Obowo local government area”
“We wonder what our rich and wealthy sons and daughters will gain if they remain quite and watch the Fulani herdsmen sack us from our land ”
He recalled that the herders had visited the Council Areas but were repelled by the outfit.
“Last two weeks the Fulani herdsmen came to Obowo and these men here with me who are members of Obowo Security Vanguard chased them away up Mbaise our neighboring local government area”
“We have been in the bush since yesterday and today and tomorrow we are storming all the bushes in search of these Fulani herdsmen and we shall make sure that they are flushed out of Obowo land ”
“We cannot fight this insecurity alone and empty handed and we urge our great sons and daughters to out of the charity work that they are doing to help us with logistics because the fight against insecurity in Obowo is not the duty of government alone but a collective responsibility of all and sundry”
“You may take your family abroad and say that they are safe , but how about your aged parents, your uncle’s and aunts , your in-laws and other relatives at home ? ”
“For us in the Obowo Security Vanguard we have volunteered to sacrifice our lives to save our dear people of Obowo local government area”
“We shall not stop until we are sure that there is no Fulani herdsmen in Obowo local government area and we warn them to stay clear from our land ”
“If we allow this to happen them we are in for deaths, raping of our women and destruction of our crops ” he explained.
