In a surprising political development, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, has voluntarily resigned from his position, citing personal convictions and a desire for a new direction in public service.
The resignation, which took effect immediately, was formally communicated via a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government. Professor Bello, who previously served as the Director General of the Uba Sani Gubernatorial Campaign Council during the 2023 elections, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve but did not publicly disclose specific reasons for his departure.
Sources close to the former commissioner suggest that his decision may be linked to growing dissatisfaction with internal dynamics within the administration, though official statements remain diplomatic. In his letter, Bello acknowledged his appointment under letter number GH/KD/S/171 dated July 27, 2023, and thanked Governor Uba Sani for the trust placed in him during his tenure.
Governor Uba Sani has since appointed Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, the former Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation, as the new Commissioner for Information. The governor’s office, through Chief Press Secretary Malam Ibraheem Musa, praised Bello’s contributions and wished him success in future endeavors.
Professor Bello’s resignation marks a significant shift in Kaduna’s political landscape, especially given his prominent role in the governor’s campaign and his leadership in reestablishing the Ministry of Information earlier this year. Political observers are watching closely for signs of realignment or further changes within the state executive council.
