In Defence of Engr. Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed — A Beacon of Youth Empowerment and Civic Responsibility

The recent publication by WikkiTimes titled “EXCLUSIVE: Shamsuddeen, Bauchi Gov’s Son, Under Fire from Family After Activist’s Arrest Triggers Scandalous Revelations” is not only misleading but appears to be a calculated attempt to malign the reputation of Engr. Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed and undermine the legacy of the Bala Mohammed-led administration.

Contrary to the sensational narrative pushed by the report, Engr. Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed remains a law-abiding citizen, a respected philanthropist, and a passionate advocate for youth empowerment.

His contributions to Bauchi State through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, and community development have earned him recognition from reputable bodies, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), which recently honored him for excellence in youth development.

The claims surrounding GRYN Bricks and Tech Limited and the Central Market reconstruction contract are speculative and lack substantiated evidence. No credible documentation has been presented to prove that public funds were misappropriated or that the company received undue advantage, the company followed due process to be awarded the project so only when they failed to deliver the project there’s no point of antagonising the company. It is not a crime for a citizen including the son of a governor to own a company or participate in legitimate business ventures, provided they operate within the bounds of the law.

Furthermore, allegations of land grabbing involving the First Lady and other family members are recycled political attacks that have yet to be proven in any court of law. These claims, often amplified by individuals with political motives, are designed to distract from the real developmental strides being made in Bauchi State ahead of their plans to unseat PDP in 2027.

On the arrest of one Ahmad Abubakar followed due legal process after he allegedly violated privacy rights by publishing a video without consent. Engr. Shamsuddeen exercised his constitutional right to seek redress through the courts a move that reflects his respect for the rule of law. The decision to remand Ahmad was made by a court, not by Shamsuddeen himself as he’s not Judge nor Police.

Engr. Shamsuddeen has consistently demonstrated his commitment to uplifting Bauchi’s youth. Through the Almuhibbah Foundation and other platforms, he has sponsored students, supported small businesses, and provided access to vocational training. His efforts have helped countless young people become self-reliant and productive members of society.

Rather than being a liability, Shamsuddeen is a symbol of hope for a new generation of leaders who prioritize service over self-interest. His empowerment initiatives are not driven by desperation for political office but by a genuine desire to give back to the community that nurtured him.

While the media plays a vital role in holding public figures accountable, it must do so with integrity, fairness, and a commitment to truth. The WikkiTimes article fails to meet these standards and instead fuels division within the Duguri family as there was never a time Alh Adamu Duguri warned Shamsuddeen nor make any public statement regarding it.

This is a handy work of a former Appointee who has sworn to fight Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and his family despite making who is he today. However, the former Appointee has been warned desist from using Sahara Reporters and Wikki Times as weapon to fight a government that made him.

We categorically refutes the recent publication attributed to WikkiTimes regarding a purported private conversation involving Mutawakil members of the Duguri family. The claims suggesting that the Governor reprimanded his son over political ambitions and public conduct are entirely false, misleading, and maliciously fabricated.

This narrative is the handiwork of mischief makers allegedly including disgruntled former appointees whose sole aim is to sow discord and tarnish the reputation of the Shamsudeen and sow seeds discourse in their family. It is unfortunate that certain individuals have resorted to manufacturing private conversations and attributing them to anonymous sources in a bid to manipulate public perception.

Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed remains focused on delivering Empowerment to youths and has consistently demonstrated maturity, transparency, and commitment to the people of Bauchi State despite not holding any public office.

The Muwatakil has not made any public or private statements resembling the alleged conversation, and no credible evidence has been presented to support such claims. The inclusion of family members in this narrative is a deliberate attempt to provoke internal strife and distract from the administration’s achievements.

Therefore, We urge journalists and commentators to refrain from weaponizing unverified claims for political gain. We urge the public and media outlets to exercise caution and verify information before dissemination.

Let us focus on constructive dialogue and support leaders who are making tangible impacts in our communities.
