In a bold stride toward advancing education and empowering youth across Bauchi State, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved the sum of ₦793.6 million to sponsor 25,410 students for key national examinations including NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS, and JAMB.
The announcement came through the State Ministry of Education, marking one of the largest education-focused investments in the state this year. This move aims to reduce the financial burden on thousands of families and increase access to tertiary education for students in both urban and rural communities.
According to the Commissioner for Education, the approval reflects Governor Bala Mohammed’s unwavering commitment to educational development and inclusive opportunity. The sponsored exams include:
– NECO (National Examination Council)
– NABTEB (National Business and Technical Examinations Board)
– NBAIS (National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies)
– JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board)
“These funds will ensure that eligible students, regardless of their socio-economic background, can compete fairly for academic and professional advancement,” the Commissioner stated.
The ₦793.6 million disbursement will be managed in collaboration with school authorities and community leaders to guarantee transparency and proper selection of beneficiaries.
Stakeholders have lauded the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention amid rising educational costs nationwide. Many have called on other states to emulate Bauchi’s model of inclusive education funding.
As students across Bauchi prepare for their exams with renewed hope, this intervention is expected to boost overall enrollment and performance rates. The state government reiterated its dedication to youth development as a cornerstone of economic progress and societal transformation.
