Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has stirred political debate with bold predictions about Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, asserting that President Bola Tinubu has already secured dominance in the South and needs only minimal support or no support from the North to clinch re-election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics, Fayose dismissed the strength of opposition parties and forecasted a dramatic reshuffling of political rankings. According to him, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will emerge victorious, followed by Labour Party’s Peter Obi, with the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) placing third. He controversially claimed that his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would finish fourth.

“Tinubu outside the government consummated the APC, took that APC up and defeated the PDP in 2015. Without the opposition in 2023, the same Tinubu defeated everybody,” Fayose said. “The man has taken all over the South; he only needs little to turn it in the North or maybe not really need.”

Fayose, known for his controversial political commentary, did not mince words about the PDP’s internal crisis. He described the party as a “carcass,” citing mass defections and leadership failures as reasons for its dwindling influence.

“Managing the party has become an issue. Pretenders can pretend, but you know that the PDP had messed up,” he added.

Despite being a PDP stalwart, Fayose emphasized that trust in him was irrelevant, stating, “I don’t have to be trusted. That’s their problem.”

His remarks have sparked reactions across political circles, with many questioning the future of the PDP and the viability of emerging coalitions. As Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 elections, Fayose’s predictions may serve as a wake-up call for opposition parties to reassess their strategies and rebuild public confidence.
