The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has commended the residents of Nnewi South Local Government Area for their increasing commitment and collaborative support towards the Police and other security agencies operating in the area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the CP gave the commendation on Tuesday, during an operational patrol he personally led to some communities in the council area, where he also inspected some ongoing and completed goodwill projects initiated by the communities to give a facelift to the Police facility in Amichi.
The visit, which saw the CP in company of the Area Commander Nnewi, the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of Otolo-Nnewi and Amichi, among other senior officers, also availed him the opportunity to visit the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Van George Chinedu Ezeogidi, with whom he interacted alongside some very senior stakeholders in the area.
CP Orutugu, while expressing satisfaction with the ongoing partnership between the police, the people, and other security agencies in Nnewi South, described such synergy as a strong pillar for effective policing, sustainable peace and security. He further emphasized that community involvement is vital to strengthening the security architecture of Anambra State, even as he encouraged other Local Government Areas in the state to emulate such partnership and show of responsibility.
In his remarks during the meeting, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ezeogidi, expressed gratitude to the CP for his visit, his leadership approach, and efforts to boost security and ensure peace in the area. He also pledged the Council’s continuous support and cooperation with the Police and other relevant security agencies towards enhancing safety and security in Nnewi South.
The Anambra State Police Command reassured the residents of its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, while also fostering transparency, responsiveness, and mutual trust with all communities it serves.
