The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has launched the construction of a new, state-of-the-art Bauchi State House of Assembly (BAHA) complex to tally with his determination and encouragement of decorum among the tiers of government in the state, today, as part of his administration’s significant step towards strengthening the state legislature’s infrastructure.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Mohammed appreciated members of the BAHA for their continued support and collaboration, which he said has been vital in delivering on the administration’s developmental agenda.
Mohammed announced that the project, estimated at ₦7.8 billion, is scheduled for completion within 12 months.
To ensure smooth execution, Mohammed added, over 50% of the contract amount has already been disbursed to the contractor.
During the event, the governor praised the contacting firm for maintaining standard in executing projects which he personally commended, added that same company erected the new government amongst others.
On his part, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, described the project as timely and essential, noting that the new complex will enhance the prestige of the legislature and provide a more efficient working environment.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Hon. Dallami Kawule, said the initiative is part of a broader plan to upgrade infrastructure across all three arms of government in the state.
