The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects connected to a criminal syndicate that defrauded a victim of two truckloads of cement valued at ₦17 million.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to 33 Police Station swung into action after receiving a complaint that one Edwin Emeka, who had been engaging the victim online, disappeared after the cement was delivered.

SP Ikenga said the arrested suspects, identified as Nnanna Charles and Okoye Chukwunonso, were later traced and found in possession of the stolen goods at different shops in the state.

According to him, the two suspects are currently in custody and undergoing intense interrogation as the Police intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing mastermind, Edwin, and other members of the syndicate.

The Police Spokesman also emphasized the need for vigilance, particularly when engaging strangers online for business or personal transactions, noting that the risks can be both financial and life-threatening.

The case, he said, will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigations.
