*Port Harcourt, Nigeria* – A horrifying case of child abuse has surfaced at Christ Ambassador International Mission School in Eagle Island, Obio-Akpor LGA where teachers allegedly subjected a 13-year-old student to brutal flogging and burns from a hot pressing iron over accusations of stealing ₦30,000.
The traumatized teenager narrated how the ordeal began when her aunt couldn’t find ₦30,000 at home. Despite maintaining her innocence, her mother’s pastor allegedly pointed fingers at her.
*”They kept asking me from Tuesday till today… I told them it wasn’t me,”* the girl recounted, her voice trembling. *”Then my mother reported me to the school. They beat me… beat me… then used an iron to burn me.”*
Prince Wiro, National Coordinator of the Center for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, revealed his team intervened when angry community members nearly lynched the accused teachers.
*”We rushed to the scene and found the child in severe pain,”* Wiro stated. *”The police from Azikwe Station were present, and we ensured the case was properly handed over for investigation.”*
The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with activists condemning the extreme corporal punishment as torture. Wiro’s organization is demanding:
1. Immediate arrest and prosecution of involved teachers
2. Medical treatment and trauma counseling for the victim
3. Government investigation into the school’s practices
