. recommends death sentence, life imprisonment as deterrent

An industrialist and transport magnate, Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke has attributed the present economic quagmire รฌn the country to what he identified as monumental corruption from both our political leaders and top civil and public servants.
He therefore recommended that any political office holder, top civil or public servant found wanting should bแบน subjected to death sentence or life imprisonment, as applicable รฌn a country like China, depending on the quantum of such corrupt practices.
Speaking to newsmen at his residence รฌn GRA Area of Onitsha, ahead of his 76th birthday anniversary celebrations, Okeke,
Chairman/Chief Ezecutive Officer, CEO of GUO Motors Limited and GUO Group of Companies Limited, lamented that corruption has actually eaten deep into the society’s fabric such that our refineries, electricity generation and distribution companies, industries and other segments of our economy have been relegated to the background.
Okeke further lamented that the gap between the rich and the poor has become too inexplicable that 90 percent of Nigerians can no longer afford their daily meal, while only about 10 percent are looting, squandering and frittering away our God given natural resourses and at the same, telling us to remain patient and hopeful till thy kingdom come.
According to Okeke, “If we amend our constitution in such a way that corruption carries an offence of capital punishment like firing squad or life imprisonment, any political party that maintains zero tolerance to corruption will pool a crowd of followers because it is corruption that is killing Nigeria’s economy”.
Quoting former Governor Peter Obi as saying recently that Nigeria has enough resources for our need but does not have enough for our greed, Okeke declared: “God loves Nigeria so much that He gave us abundant natural and material resources but unfortunately, we have graduated from stealing only millions to stealing billions and trillions for our selfish end”.
“Death sentence for corruption is the only solution to spare this country which is currently at the brink of collapse, Okeke lamented, adding, no good road, no security, no power supply, no food, no drugs, nothing. How can industries survive and trieve in the midst of absence of these facilities? All the factories are now moving out of Nigeria to other African countries”.
“We have mortgaged our conscience and we are finished completely because of peanuts being given to us by our politicians during elections. Politicians use our youths selfishly and dump them afterwards, while their own children are in foreign countries attending to their educational pursuits only to graduate and come back home to take over from where their corrupt fatgers and mothersย stopped”.
“I am calling on our weathy people to look after our children, particularly the less privileged ones and the disabled. I feel very fulfilled that my foundation, Goodwin and Patricia Okeke foundation has taken it upon ourselves to build a relaxation home for the deaf and dump and also pay their school fees to give them sense of belonging”.
“At 76, I must admit that I have too many regrets in life. One of them is monumental corruption. Without corruption, Nigeria would not have been in this mess ww are today because these corrupt people have pushed us into the bottomless pit”.
“I am in support of oil subsidy removal because only about 19 persons were benefitting from the subsidy proceeds but the subsidy removal was very okay but the problem is the corruption associated with it’s removal coming from within the same clique”.
In her own contribution, Okeke’s wife, Lady Patricia declared: “God must surely punish corrupt politicians and civil servants. Public spirited individuals and groups should come to the aid of all the handicapped ones in our midst. I must thank the Almighty God that at 71, I am alive and healthy”.
