The Bauchi State Ministry of Works and Transport reaffirmed the government’s determination to improve the security architecture of the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi (SATBIA).
The Ministry unveiled 4 motorcycles and 8 bicycles to security personnel for surveillance and engaged 7 surveillance personnel from surrounding communities to work with the Airport authority.
The Ministry solicited the support of traditional leaders to raise awareness and mobilize communities to protect Airport facilities against vandalism.
The General Manager of SATBIA highlighted security sabotage as a major challenge and called for a revamp of the Airport’s security strategy.
The Ward Head of Durum pledged the community’s commitment to provide necessary support to ensure the success of the Airport’s security goals.
In his speech, the ministry permanent secretary, Engr. Mohammad Hamisu Garba said “We are committed to ensuring a hundred percent security at the Airport to avoid any further security breaches.”
In their separate remarks the Airport General Manager, Surveyor Babagana Muhammad Tata “We need the support of the surrounding community to consider the Airport as their own property and help us ensure a free security breaches.”
The representative of the village head of Durum, Malam Sale Garba “We pledge our commitment to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the target goal and applaud the Government for considering our children’s relevance to serve with the Airport surveillance team.”
The event demonstrates the government’s efforts to enhance airport security and engage with the local community to achieve this goal.
