The Anambra State Police Command has made another significant progress in its ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates in the state, as operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) recovered dangerous weapons and incriminating materials linked to a suspected kidnap and murder gang.
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the breakthrough came on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, following actionable intelligence obtained from a 26-year-old detained kidnap suspect, identified as one Ebuka Orizu, who is currently in police custody.
In his words, acting swiftly on the tip-off, police operatives stormed a location in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area (which is also the hometown of the detained celebrity native doctor, popularly known as Akwa Ọkụkọ), where they recovered one locally made Beretta pistol, eleven live cartridges, and two laptops believed to have been used or acquired through criminal operations.
SP Ikenga said further investigations revealed that the suspect, Ebuka Orizu, is a member of a notorious gang that has been operating around Oraifite and its environs, terrorizing residents with acts of kidnapping and, in some cases, murder.
He also noted that manhunt operations are still ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
