Boyfriend Escapes with Gun As Police Arrest His Girlfriend, Others for Kidnapping in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has once again recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on criminal elements in the state, as operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu successfully stormed and dismantled a criminal hideout in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

The operation, which was carried out on the evening of Friday, May 9, 2025, followed credible intelligence and resulted in the arrest of four suspected members of a notorious kidnap and robbery syndicate, including a female accomplice.

According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the raid also led to the recovery of several exhibits believed to be linked to the suspects’ criminal operations, including three vehicles, a laptop, a car spraying machine, electrical tools suspected to be used in tampering with vehicles, and some quantities of methamphetamine (popularly known as Mkpụrụmmiri)

The recovered vehicles, according to the press statement, include: a black Lexus GS 350 with registration number ENU 561 LY, an ash-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number UWN 614 HK, and a navy-blue Toyota Corolla with registration number UMZ 135 AD

The police spokesman further identified the arrested suspects as Chigozie Udolisa (a.k.a. T. Dollars), Anaolu Joseph (a.k.a. Blue), Chukwuka Udolisa (a.k.a. Udokamiri), and Chinaza Udemezue (female)

According to him, all four suspects, whose ages fall within the 19–28-year range, reportedly confessed to being members of a criminal gang specializing in kidnapping, armed robbery, and car-snatching. It was gathered that during her confession, the female suspect, Chinaza Udemezue, disclosed that her boyfriend, also a member of the gang, managed to escape the scene with their firearms immediately he sighted the approaching police team.

The Command also confirmed that the arrested individuals are currently undergoing thorough interrogation to unravel further details of their operations, including identifying other fleeing members of the syndicate and their possible hideouts.

Describing the successful operation as a product of intelligence-driven policing, the Command, through SP Ikenga, reassured members of the public of its unflinching commitment to rooting out criminal elements from all corners of the state. He emphasized that the Police would not relent in their efforts to safeguard lives and property and called on residents to continue to partner with security agencies by providing timely and actionable information.

“The Anambra State Police Command continues to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the communities in the State,” the statement concluded.
