Security has taken centre stage in Anambra State as top security chiefs converged in Awka on Monday, May 5, 2025, for a crucial meeting aimed at reinforcing safety protocols ahead of the scheduled visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state on Thursday, May 8.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed this in a statement to newsmen on Monday.
He noted that the high-level meeting, which lasted five hours behind closed doors, brought together heads of all major security formations in the state, who gave detailed briefings and reviewed intelligence reports as part of an overarching effort to ensure a seamless, secure, and peaceful presidential visit.
Held in the state capital, Awka, the strategic session, according to the Police Spokesman, delved into critical issues such as threat analysis, joint deployment coordination, surveillance operations, and contingency planning. He said the gathering also focused on tightening security around strategic locations, including entry and exit points, major roads, and high-value installations across the state.
According to him, security agencies represented at the meeting included the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), as well as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (Rtd), among others.
“This comprehensive security approach reflects the commitment of Anambra State’s security architecture to guaranteeing the safety of the visiting President, dignitaries, and citizens, while sustaining peace and stability across the state,” he stated.
