A brewing discontent within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state has sparked concern, as over 50,000 party members are reportedly preparing to leave the party ahead of the 2027 elections. This development comes amid an ongoing battle for control of the partyโs leadership and structures, with several prominent members voicing their dissatisfaction over the direction of the party.
Tensions have escalated following recent outbursts by key APC stakeholders in the state, who have raised concerns about the leadership crisis that has left many members feeling marginalized. The disagreement centers around the control of party apparatuses, with factions emerging as party members vie for supremacy in anticipation of the 2027 political contests.
One of the most vocal critics of the current situation is Comrade Sabo Mohammed, a former party leader and a long-standing member of the APC. Speaking to reporters, Comrade Mohammed expressed frustration with the partyโs current trajectory, emphasizing that the lack of unity and direction within the party has left many members disillusioned.
โWe can no longer hold on to any party ideology since itโs not a religion. The internal strife, power struggles, and lack of clear leadership have shown us that the APC no longer represents the values it once did,โ said Mohammed, his voice laced with bitterness. โIf the party cannot resolve these issues, we have no choice but to explore other options.โ
Sources within the party suggest that the dissatisfaction among members is widespread, with many citing the failure of the current leadership to address key concerns and build a unified front. The anticipated departure of thousands of APC members in Bauchi could have significant implications for the partyโs chances in the 2027 elections, as it risks losing valuable grassroots support.
As the situation unfolds, many are questioning the future of APC in Bauchi, with some speculating that the partyโs internal wrangling may pave the way for the rise of rival political forces in the state. However, despite the mounting pressure, party leaders have yet to offer a concrete solution to address the growing discontent among stakeholders.
With the 2027 elections fast approaching, all eyes are now on the APC in Bauchi, as the party grapples with its leadership crisis and attempts to hold its ranks together in the face of mounting internal opposition.
