The All Progressives Congress APC gubernatorial primary election billed for this Saturday has opened a new episode in the litany of crisis following allegations that former Senator that represented Anambra Central District Sen Uche Ekwunife petitioned against one of the front line contenders Prof Obiora Okonkwo.
But Sen Ekwunife has dismissed the allegation describing it as not only spurious but unfounded contending that it came from a fifth columnists who are out to maline her image and reputation.
Ekwunife further stated that whatever issues that she has with any person or group of persons is trashed through her known manner and not to hide under the covers of faceless persons to author a petition against the person.
According to a release signed by her Media Assistant Mr Tony Ezike Ekwunife stated that;
โOur attention has been drawn to a malicious publication being circulated by faceless anti-progressive elements in a failed attempt to link our principal, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, to an imaginary petition purportedly signed by her and five others on behalf of the Elders and Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, dated 30th March, 2025โ
โWe wish to categorically state that Senator Uche Ekwunife has never, under any circumstances, written a petition against anyone for political reasonsโ
โAs a seasoned lawmaker and political leader, she understands that politics is often laced with spurious allegations, blackmail, and treacherous statements against perceived political rivals, especially during electioneering campaigns and other activitiesโ
โHowever, she has consistently chosen to rise above such petty anticsโ
โFunny enough, the address they used, 65 Agu-Awka, Awka South LGA does not exist anywhere except in the purveyorโs imagination and treacherous mindset, because Agu Awka is a community with streets, crescents, avenues, and closes with identifiable residences and offices, all properly addressedโ
โOrdinarily, we wouldnโt have glorified the mischief makers with a response, except for the need to set the records straight before the public to whom the falsehood must have been circulatedโ
โLet it be known that Senator Ekwunife has a well-known pattern of appending her name and signature to public documents; a standard not met in the so-called petitionโ
โA simple comparison reveals a striking difference between the forged signature and that of our principal, further exposing the deceitful intentions of the originators of this falsehoodโ
โTo be clear, Senator Uche Ekwunife does not rely on anonymous letters or petitions to express her stance on political mattersโ
โKnown across the country as one of the most outspoken and courageous voices in Nigerian politics, she would rather engage in direct, honest dialogue than indulge in underhanded tacticsโ
โIf there were any concerns regarding the actions or decisions of Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, she would have addressed them with him directly, although such a situation does not exist, given that Prof. Okonkwo remains her very good friend and political associateโ
โThe general public, and members of the APC in particular, are hereby advised to disregard in its entirety the unfounded and unauthorized association of Senator Uche Ekwunife, a highly reputable APC stakeholder, with this baseless and ill-intentioned petitionโ
โThe creators and promoters of this falsehood are advised to focus on resolving their own political woes and refrain from dragging Senator Ekwunife into their web of confusionโ
โOnce again, we reaffirm Senator Ekwunifeโs unwavering commitment to the growth, unity, and success of the All Progressives Congress in Anambra State and Nigeria at largeโ it read.
