Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have converged in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for the third meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) in 2025.
The high-level meeting, hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, is focused on key deliberations surrounding the future of the party, governance at the subnational level, and pressing developmental issues confronting the nation.
The PDP Governors’ Forum, chaired by Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State, is meeting amid growing expectations from Nigerians for a more united and purposeful opposition capable of offering policy alternatives and driving national cohesion.
In attendance at the meeting are Governors Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Peter Ndubuisi Mbah (Enugu), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke (Osun). Also present are the Deputy Governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom States, Monday John Onyeme and Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, respectively.
Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, is also attending the session.
The meeting will transition into an enlarged session featuring the participation of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum. Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and other critical stakeholders of the party are also expected to be part of the broader dialogue.
Party insiders say the meeting will address internal cohesion, strategy for upcoming elections, and policy positions on national issues such as economic recovery, security, federalism, and constitutional reforms.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape the party’s trajectory in the coming months, especially in consolidating its role as Nigeria’s leading opposition party.
