In a stunning political development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has witnessed a massive exodus of members, with over 100,000 individuals resigning from the party in the past week. The defections have come as a result of growing discontent among the party’s rank-and-file, and the departure of several prominent political figures has sparked intense speculation about the future of the party in the state.

Key figures who have officially announced their resignation from the APC include former Senators, former House of Representatives members, and several high-ranking officials who had previously played crucial roles in the party’s success in the region. These departures have been attributed to a range of grievances, including dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership, its internal power struggles, and unfulfilled promises made during the 2023 general elections.

One of the leading figures to leave the APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Bawa, a former senator and influential voice within the party, expressed frustration with what he described as a lack of accountability and transparency within the party’s leadership. Speaking to reporters, Bawa remarked, “The APC in Kaduna has lost touch with the people. Promises made during the election campaign were never fulfilled, and there is a deep sense of betrayal among the party’s supporters.”

In addition to the departure of high-profile politicians, grassroots supporters of the party have also expressed their dissatisfaction. Many of these members pointed to the perceived neglect of their needs and the erosion of party unity as key factors behind their decision to resign. The sheer scale of the resignations signals a growing fracture in the APC’s base, leaving some analysts to question the party’s ability to maintain its hold on power in the state.

Political observers are predicting that these resignations could have significant repercussions for the party’s performance in future elections. As the defections continue to pile up, questions are now being raised about whether a new political movement or coalition will emerge in response to the growing dissatisfaction with the APC’s leadership in Kaduna State and the country at large.

The state government, led by Governor Uba Sani, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the mass resignation, though sources close to the governor suggest that efforts are underway to address the concerns of disgruntled party members. Meanwhile, opposition parties are already capitalizing on the growing disillusionment, with many seeing this as an opportunity to build momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

As the political landscape in Kaduna continues to shift, all eyes are now on how the APC will respond to the escalating crisis and whether it can regain the trust of its members and supporters before the next election cycle.
