The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. GO Oluyede, has assured that the Nigerian Army will soon bring an end to the resurgence of Boko Haram in the Northeast region.
He stated that the army is developing strategies and techniques to tackle the challenge, and believes that with these efforts, the insurgency will be overcome.
The COAS made this pledge during the opening of the Combat Arms Training Week 2025 Monday in Bauchi, a week-long event aimed at enhancing the army’s capabilities in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
The theme of the event was “Strengthening Combat Arms Cooperation in a Joint Environment: A Pre-Requisite for Success in Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations.”
Lt. Gen. Oluyede emphasized that the Boko Haram resurgence is temporary and that the army is working to provide solutions to the challenges it poses.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) emphasized that the training would enhance the capacity of troops and promote coordinated efforts to address security challenges. He highlighted the importance of adopting international best practices and new methods to sustain capabilities.
The COAS charged attendees to approach security issues with a clear and unbiased perspective, prioritizing national security and unity.
He also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, neighboring countries, international partners, and the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, in enhancing security efforts.
The event included various activities such as presentations, inspections, and the commissioning of a comprehensive training center among others.
