The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. GO Oluyede, has initiated the construction of new barracks blocks for the 211 Demonstration Battalion in Bauchi State.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, the COAS emphasized the importance of reciprocating the government’s investment by intensifying efforts to combat crime and criminal activities.
The COAS said this project aims to enhance the welfare of soldiers by providing them with better living conditions.
In a related development, the COAS also led a tree planting exercise and commissioned the Nigeria Army/NORINCO Comprehensive Service Center, which will serve as a repair facility for armored vehicles.
The Commander of the Nigeria Army Armour Corps, Major General OC Ajunwa, expressed gratitude for the COAS’s support and promised close monitoring of the project.
The construction company, ORADO, assured that the project would be completed within 28 months period.
According to the site project manager, the barracks which comprises of MOQ, SOQ blocks, 2 Bedroom SNCO, 10 Family CBQ respectively.
