Hon Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency and Chairman of the Committee on Banking Regulations, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage following the recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State that claimed the lives of over 50 innocent civilians. The attacks, which targeted communities such as Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai, have been condemned as brutal and senseless acts of violence.
In a statement released today, El-Rufai described the attacks as “reprehensible” and emphasized the devastating impact on both the victims’ families and the nation as a whole. “These coordinated assaults undermine the peace and unity we strive to build in our nation,” he said.
The lawmaker commended the prompt actions of security agencies, who have reportedly apprehended several suspects linked to the attacks, but stressed the importance of ensuring that all those responsible are brought to justice. “It is imperative that all perpetrators are brought to justice promptly to deter future occurrences,” El-Rufai stated, calling for stronger measures to address the underlying causes of the violence.
El-Rufai also urged both the Federal Government and the Plateau State Government to increase their efforts in securing vulnerable communities across the region. He highlighted the need for proactive measures to prevent further bloodshed and foster a more peaceful environment for all Nigerians.
In his message of condolence to the families of the victims, El-Rufai extended heartfelt sympathy and solidarity. “Your grief is shared by all Nigerians who value human life and dignity,” he said, adding, “We must collectively work towards fostering a society where peace prevails, and such senseless killings become a thing of the past.”
The recent killings in Bokkos have sparked widespread condemnation from various groups and individuals across Nigeria, calling for an end to the escalating violence in several parts of the country. El-Rufai’s statement highlights the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria’s security landscape and the need for unity in addressing the root causes of such violence.
