He said,” the governor, only a few days ago, bagged an award as infrastructure governor in Nigeria. What had happened to the infrastructure in our Schools?
He wrote; “My dear Elder brother, Prof Bernard Thompson Ikegwuoha, I can understand you were only recently reappointed to oversee the Ministry of Education as Commissioner in charge of Primary and Secondary schools; as such, I won’t blame you for the dilapidated state of this school.
“However, I want you to inform the governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, that this is the present situation of Ojike Memorial Secondary School, Orlu.Incidentally, this was where I served as Senior Prefect in 1999 and made one of the best result with A1 in mathematics. I am pretty sure that if this school was like this when we were there, the zeal with which we pursued our educational career would have died in us. It is a known fact that none of our politicians would be happy to see his or her children study under this condition.
“And these are called the future leaders. How are we preparing them to take over the mantle of leadership going by the deplorable state of this infrastruture? Is the abandonment deliberate or an oversight? Let me not conclude yet. I hope and believe that the allocation meant for the renovations of this school and other schools like Ojike Memorial Secondary school is put to good use.
‘Ironically, the governor, only a few days ago, bagged an award as infrastructure governor in Nigeria. What had happened to the infrastructure in our Schools?”.
