The family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, came under attack in the early hours of Tuesday, according to reports confirmed by security sources.

The incident, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. in Obeiba-Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, involved at least three unidentified gunmen. The attackers, reportedly armed, vandalized parts of the building including shattering window panes before fleeing the scene.

Security expert Zagazola Makama, who broke the news on Thursday, revealed that the Senator’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Yakubu Ovanja, reported the incident to the authorities shortly after it happened. In response, a team of officers from the Okehi Division swiftly arrived at the location to assess the damage and secure the premises.

Fortunately, no casualties were recorded during the incident, and no arrests have been made so far. Preliminary investigations are currently underway, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was recently suspended from her legislative duties, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack. Her silence has drawn public concern, particularly given the increasingly tense political atmosphere in the state.

This incident adds to the growing list of security challenges facing various parts of Nigeria, as communities continue to grapple with sporadic violence and attacks by unidentified assailants.

The police and other security agencies have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.
