Anambra Police Commissioner Lauds Officers’ Conduct During Guber Primaries, Preaches More Professionalism

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has commended officers of the Command for their commendable conduct during the recently conducted governorship primary elections of various political parties across the state.

The CP made the commendation on Sunday, April 6, 2025, while addressing officers deployed for the national assignment, which he described as sensitive, demanding, and crucial to the democratic process.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner acknowledged the high level of professionalism and decorum exhibited by the personnel during the exercise, noting that their commitment helped ensure peace and orderliness throughout the primaries.

While praising their performance, CP Orutugu emphasized that the task ahead is far from over. He charged officers to remain steadfast, vigilant, and professional as the political campaigns begin and preparations for the general election intensify.

“There is still much to be done,” he stressed, noting that the political season demands heightened alertness, neutrality, and discipline from law enforcement agencies.

He further reiterated the Command’s firm commitment to creating a safe and secured environment for Ndi Anambra, irrespective of political affiliations, and pledged that the police would continue to remain apolitical and uphold their constitutional responsibilities with utmost integrity.

The Commissioner also assured political actors and the general public of the Command’s readiness to guarantee their safety before, during, and after the elections, while calling for continuous collaboration and respect for the rule of law.
