As part of activities marking their 13th convocation ceremonies, authorities of Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra state have laid a foundation stone ceremony of their new Facility of Law building estimated to cost some millions of naira.
Performing the ceremony, Chancellor of the University and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Rev. Fr. Dr. Edwin Obiora expressed optimism that the new ultra modern Facility of Law edifice would be completed in the next one year, by the special Grace of God.
He therefore pleased with parents, guardian, philanthropists and lovers of education to to donate generously towards the completion of the edifice.
Meantime, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eugene Nwadialor has in a pre-convocation press briefing, shortly after the foundation stone laying ceremony, disclosed that a total of 414 students of the institution, including 380 undergraduate and 34 postgraduate students would convocate at the weekend.
Prof. Nwadialor also disclosed that among the graduates, three students would receive first-class honors, while 136 would be awarded Second Class Upper Division, just as 237 of them would attain Second Class Lower Division and four others graduate with Third Class honors.
Noting that the postgraduate cohort include three students earning diplomas and 31 completing their Master’s degrees across various departments, Prof. Nwadialor further disclosed that the ceremony would equally feature the conferral of honorary degrees to distinguished individuals, including Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Igwe Alex Onyido, the Traditional Ruler of Ogidi; and Hon. Pius Okoye, Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly.
As part of its commitment to excellence, the university would offer automatic employments to the first-class graduates, along with prizes for outstanding performance across different faculties and departments.
“In addition to the graduation ceremony, the university will host a public lecture on Artificial Intelligence and engage in various projects, including tree planting and the laying of foundations, as well as the commissioning and naming of new projects. This development is part of a broader initiative that aims to raise N5 billion for infrastructural improvements, chaired by Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, a former House of Representatives member”.
“Let me emphasized that Tansian University’s dedication to enhancing the educational experience through innovative teaching, research, and capacity-building initiatives are aimed at empowering graduates to become employers of labour and to foster an improved academic environment for both teaching staff and students”, said the VC..
