The Senate this Tuesday finally decelerated the seat of Anambra South Senatorial District vacant following the demise of Sen Ifeanyi Ubah last year.
Recall that the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra state Queen Elizabeth Agwu had told reporters that the Commission is yet to issue notice for the conduit of a bye election to fill the seat of Anambra South Senatorial District.
Before the statement of Agwu the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Abuja had stated that the Senate is yet to write the Commission declaring the seat vacant and when this reporter called the Chief Of Staff to the Senate President Chief Chinedu Akubeze, he noted that in no distant time the Senate would communicate the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC accordingly.
However the Anambra state INEC is yet to react to this development but the Public Relations unit of the Commission in the state promised to get back to reporters in due time about the notice for the election as well as the time table and guideline for the exercise.
Meanwhile one of the Aspirants for the ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA may dump the party for the Young Democratic Party YPP following alleged meetings with some chieftains of the party .
Though the details are not known yet there has been allegations that the Aspirant had worked against APGA in the last general election supporting late Sen Ifeanyi Ubah who was the candidate of the party as it where.
He was also accused of campaigning against the then candidate of APGA Hon Chris Azubogu which led to the failure of the party and the then candidate in the said election.
With this development the eventual decampee from APGA would have to wrestle the ticket of YPP from Hon Tony Ezike who appears to be a top contender to the ticket of that party.
