LATEST NEWS

Dr Fabian Ihekweme, a former Commissioner for Foreign Affairs in Governor Hope Uzodinma’s cabinet has said that there was a plot to assassinate him at Lokoja while bringing him to Owerri from Abuja where he was arrested.

Ihekweme, popularly called Ancient Seer, who disclosed this while speaking to this reporter said, contrary to reports peddled in different quarters that he was flown from Abuja to Imo revealed that he was arrested by a detachment of policemen from the Imo State command who trailed him through his driver. He disclosed that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command had refused to enforce his arrest but the Imo State Police Command for obvious reasons became a willing tool.

He also said, “Senior Police officers who participated in my arrest were flown back to Imo State, while myself and nine other police men drove from Abuja to Owerri. At a point when I sensed that something was wrong, I told them that we should find a place to sleep at Lokoja and continue the journey the next day. That was my saving grace because from the numerous calls they received at intervals from a policeman called Shaba, I became suspicious of something ominous.”

Ihekweme, while thanking God for keeping him alive to celebrate this year’s birthday despite the dehumanizing experience he had during his 62 days in detention, also thanked Imo people for their outpouring of love and goodwill, adding that he would not wish even his worst enemy what he went through.
