The Speaker of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Parliament Worldwide, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Tomoni Allen JP, has strongly declared that Governor Siminalayi Fubara cannot be impeached by any means or form, amid growing political tensions in Rivers State.
In a passionate statement, Allen lashed out at a group of “greedy political charlatans” whom he accused of attempting to stir up an atmosphere of crisis in the state. He expressed deep concern that these individuals were seeking to drag Rivers State back into an era of economic and political instability, reminiscent of the pre-Amnesty days in the Niger Delta.
“Few greedy fellows are bent on creating an atmosphere of unimaginable political and economic crisis that will inevitably take us back to the doom’s days of economic woes in the Niger Delta prior to Amnesty,” Allen said. “Rivers State belongs to all of us, not to these insatiable political charlatans who have exhaled themselves as political lords, forgetting that the people of Rivers have resisted federal might on several occasions.”
Allen further emphasized the unity of the Ijaw people behind Governor Fubara, asserting that those who are seeking to unseat him will have to contend not only with the Governor but with the entire Ijaw Nation. “Governor Sim Fubara is not alone in this fight against political imperialism in Rivers State,” he declared. “Those who think they will push him out should be ready to push the entire Ijaw Nation to Waterloo.”
The IYC leader also called on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to intervene and ensure peace in Rivers State, urging him to caution warring parties and maintain the existing peace for the benefit of all. He stressed that peace and stability were necessary for the continued prosperity and survival of the region.
“We desire, as a people of peace, that President Tinubu should create peace and caution warring parties to maintain the existing peace for the good of all of us and the continuous flow of our common patrimonial cake to survive,” Allen said.
Concluding his statement, the IYC Speaker made it clear that the people of Rivers State stand firmly with Governor Fubara, regardless of any political challenges. “We stand with Governor Sim Fubara, come rain, come shine,” he asserted.
The declaration comes at a time of heightened political tension in the state, with ongoing power struggles and a divided political landscape. While Fubara’s administration continues to face opposition, particularly from certain factions within the state, Allen’s statement signals a strong commitment to protecting the Governor’s position and the interests of the Ijaw people.
As the situation unfolds, many are watching to see how political dynamics in Rivers State will evolve, with all eyes on both the state government and the federal government for a resolution.
