In a move to foster unity and inclusiveness, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State hosted a special Ramadan Iftar for Christian communities at the Banquet Hall of the Government House. The event, which took place on the 12th day of Ramadan, was attended by key Christian leaders in the state, including the State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Abraham Damina, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Christian Affairs, Pastor Zakka Magaji, and the State CAN Youth Leader.
The Christian leaders, in their addresses, expressed their gratitude towards Governor Bala Mohammed for ensuring that Christians, along with other ethnic groups, are fully integrated into the governance structure of the state. They commended his inclusive approach, which has contributed to a peaceful and harmonious coexistence among the diverse religious and ethnic groups in Bauchi State.
Reverend Abraham Damina, on behalf of the Christian community, assured the Governor of their continued support and prayers for his administration. He also pledged the community’s backing for his future political endeavors, emphasizing that the Governor’s efforts to prioritize inclusivity have not gone unnoticed.
In his remarks, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Christian community for their unwavering support and prayers throughout his political journey. He emphasized that the Christian community’s involvement has been instrumental in his success. The Governor also reiterated his commitment to maintaining an inclusive government, one that transcends tribal and religious lines.
He called on the people of Bauchi State to unite in moving the state and Nigeria forward, stressing the importance of moving away from tribal and religious bigotry. “For Nigeria and Bauchi State to progress, we must return to the good old days where individuals were not judged by the content of their tribe or religion but by the character they possess,” Governor Mohammed said.
The Governor assured the Christian community that his administration would continue to support their welfare, particularly by focusing on developing rural areas within their domains. He once again called for their continued support and prayers, emphasizing that his government is dedicated to the betterment of all citizens, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
The event, held during the holy month of Ramadan, served as a significant reminder of the Governor’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusiveness in Bauchi State, setting a powerful example of interfaith cooperation.
